Millions of people invest in confidence and convenience every year with laser hair removal, one of the world’s most popular cosmetic treatments.

How laser hair removal works

Laser hair removal uses a handheld laser device to direct light at a specific area of the skin. The special kind of light emitted from the laser is absorbed into the pigment of the hair, which heats up to the point that it kills or damages the surrounding follicle. When the folic is damaged, it either dies and the hair is gone forever, or it can be damaged so that the hair that grows back is finer and softer than before.

Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?

For laser hair removal to be effective, the hair should be dark, because the light emitted from the laser targets the melanin in the hair. The more melanin in the hair, the more likely it is that you’ll see faster and better results from laser hair removal. People with blonde hair are usually not good candidates for laser hair removal.

How long does it take to see results with laser hair removal?

You’ll come into our office for a laser hair removal treatment every six to eight weeks, which generally lasts between 30 minutes to one hour, depending on how much surface area we’re treating. In total, you’ll need between eight and 12 treatments to achieve the hairless, smooth look you’re craving – and the convenience of not worrying about excess body hair ever again!

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal does get rid of hair forever. Once a follicle is dead, it cannot regrow. However, some hair follicles are tougher than others. Some hair follicles may remain, even after 12 treatments, but you will see a dramatic difference in the speed that the hair from that follicle grows. It should also be tremendously finer and softer, too.

Many of our patients who have their legs lasered find that they shave much less often than before treatment, and only need to “touch up” here and there in the shower on occasion. A patient who says they used to hate shaving now breeze through it with ease, as it takes less time and is less painful than before.

How much does laser hair removal cost?

The price of laser hair removal depends on how many treatments you’ll need and how much surface area you’d like to have treated. Come in and see us for a consult and we can tell you an exact price!
