Scar Removal Roswell, GA
A scar is the body’s natural way of healing and replacing lost or damaged skin. Scars are made up of fibrous tissue and are typically caused by some sort of trauma, such as acne. There are many different ways to help reduce the appearance of a scar such as a laser treatment.
How do laser treatments for scars work?
Laser treatments for scars don’t make a scar completely disappear, they essentially make a scar less noticeable. When a scar is permanent, laser treatment can be used to remove the outer layer of the damaged skin to smooth the skin and improve tone and appearance.
Here at AR Roswell, we offer laser treatments as a safe way to improve appearance. Other acne scar treatments are available, however, in extreme cases, we can work with you and come up with a laser treatment plan for your goals.
What to expect after a laser treatment for scars
Due to the use of heat and light on your skin, there may be discomfort, redness, pain, and swelling. These symptoms should only last a few days. After your treatment, you will need to make sure you follow some aftercare instructions including but not limited to
- Avoid direct sunlight for four to six weeks after the procedure
- Apply a cold pack or moist cloth to the area to help with swelling
- Take over-the-counter pain medication when needed
- Wash and apply moisturizer daily
Each patient has a unique situation that may call for more or fewer aftercare procedures.
